Donations to the Library
Monetary DonationsThe Library welcomes monetary contributions. Contributions can be for a specific purpose or used to enhance the general operations of the library.
Gift and Memorial BooksPurchasing gift and memorial books are a wonderful and unique way to remember loved ones or to mark special occasions. Civic-minded businesses may also make a contribution to the community by donating to the library. With your tax-deductible contribution, the Library will purchase an item in the category you choose. For instance, if the person you are honoring with a memorial book was an avid gardener, the Library will be happy to select a book about gardening for the collection. Acknowledgment of your gift is sent to the individual or to the family of the person being honored. A bookplate imprinted with your name and the name of the person being honored is placed in the book before it goes on the shelf.
Donations through Your WillThe Library accepts gifts to the Library through wills, trusts and legacies.
Book Sale DonationsThe Friends of the Bartlett Library Perpetual Book Sale accepts donations of materials. Acceptable donations include clean and undamaged paperback and hard cover books and magazines within eight months of publication date. Also accepted are DVDs, CDs, videogames, puzzles and board games that are clean and complete.
Not accepted are: textbooks; Reader’s Digest Condensed Books; old Magazines; books with yellowed pages, torn covers or without covers; waterlogged or musty material; and books or magazines that have been highlighted or marked with pen or pencil.
Items may be dropped off in the Library lobby seven days a week during our regularly scheduled hours. Stop at the Check-Out desk if you would like a tax receipt for your donation.
Friends of the Bartlett Library
About the Friends of the LibraryThe Friends support the Library in their mission to provide quality services and programs to the community. Since their inception in 1983 they have donated over $130,000 to the Library. In addition, every child that receives a new Library card also receives a new book donated by the Friends.
The Friends participate in many activities and fundraisers during the year, including: Perpetual Book Sale (located in lobby); Fravinia outdoor concerts; gift basket raffles and Library volunteers.
The dues, along with all the money raised throughout the year, go directly to benefit the Library. The Friends have contributed funds for programs, Hot Reads, computers, furniture & equipment, online homework help and much more. The Library would not be able to offer the richness of programs and materials to the community without their support.
Become a FriendAny person interested in supporting the Library is encouraged to join the Friends. Organizations, clubs, and businesses are also welcome. Annual dues are yearly from your date of membership enrollment and start at only $5.00 for an individual. Additional contributions of any size are happily accepted. Volunteering and attendance at meetings is optional.
Friends MeetingsThe Friends of the Bartlett Library will meet quarterly on the following days in the meeting room, unless stated otherwise. The public is welcome to attend.
